The Story Of A Victim Of Illegal Aliens, One Story Among Millions

Page Three

The following is a true incident that occurred in the Capital City of South Carolina, Columbia.  The lawlessness that is taking place in this nation and in South Carolina is sickening. Illegals have more privileges than American Citizens and are destroying the very fabric of American Culture. Many of the states surrounding South Carolina have laws against illegals.  Thanks to the SC State Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina has been unable to adopt such a law.

This is just one story among millions. Mr. Funderburk describes the effect that illegals have had on his business to the point that he can barely make payments on his cars and pay for his children's school supplies.

Amazingly, the sheriff of the adjacent county, Lexington County, where the illegal alien population exceeds even that of the city of Columbia, went on talk radio and stated, "there are no illegal aliens in Lexington County."  Perhaps this sheriff needs lessons from a real sheriff such as Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ. Maybe Sheriff Arpaio, can help him identify illegals. This sheriff has a Ph.D. in Education. One wonders why the good citizens of Lexington County would elect a nitwit such as this to such a critical office given the damage and destruction done to the nation's schools by Education PH.D's. The citizens  would do well to elect real Constitutional lawmen to these important offices.

The Lone Protester - A Case In American Patriotism

July 31st, 2007

July 26, 2007

Cross posted from Freedom Folks and The Voice.

Thank you Mr. Funderburk, for having the temerity and moral conviction to do what millions of Americans and Legal Immigrants should do.  You sir, are a true American Patriot!

Here is Terry Funderburk’s story in his own words.

Saturday, July 21, 2007 8:16:24 AM Subject: Lone Protester.

My name is Terry Funderburk. I live in Columbia, SC and have a small business in the new home construction industry here. I install copper on new homes. I have been in business for almost 20 years now and always had plenty of work lined up. Usually, I had 20 to 30 jobs lined up for the next few weeks. Last year my company grossed 176 thousand. I have 2 employees and a partner. (my son).

This year though, things have gone to hell in a handbasket. Here we are almost into August and my business has grossed so far this year 18 thousand. (by this time last year we had grossed 110 grand). So whats different between this year and last year? Right, the illegal competition.

Let me tell you a little story that actually happened to me this week (it still seems surreal). But it begins about a month ago.

I stopped by a home that was being rebuilt due to a lightning strike last year I knew the homeowner, I have done 2 different copperjobs on his house before it burned down. I asked him if he was planning on installing copper on the front and rear porches and he said yes, to please give him a bid on it. He said that he had an international team of roofers to install the shingles on the roof and that if I wanted the copperjob to be sure to give him a low bid. He said that the international roofers got paid 4 to 5 dollars an hour for the shingles. (thats what American roofers were making in 1970). Well, I turned in a bid to him for 5 grand on the copperwork. A fair price.

So this past Monday morning was when my adventure began. (and it ain’t over by a long shot). I drove by that house early Monday, the international roofing team was hard at work installing the copper. I saw red. I got enraged. I went home, made up 2 picket signs, one said illegals, stop stealing our jobs and the other simply said Enforce our laws. I told my wife that I probably wasn’t coming home that night because I was going to protest until I got arrested and taken to jail.

In route to the job I called my son and told him what I was planning to do. I asked for his support, gave him my digital camera and had him park his truck across the intersection from the job with the camera and take pictures of me protesting that job. I got my picket sign and started marching up and down the street yelling. I brought out all of the homeowners neighbors told them exactly how cheap their friend was. Every vehicle that came by I made sure they slowed down, read my sign and saw how mad I was.

After about 30 minutes of doing this a single cop showed up. He pulled over, came up to me, grabbed my sign, threw it down on the road and told me to come to his patrol car with him. I asked him if I was under arrest, he said no that he just wanted to talk to me. I told him no, I wanted his hands off me, my sign back and that I wanted to keep expressing my first amendment rights. He grabbed me forcefully then, trying to steer me to his vehicle but I immediately sat down in the middle of the road. I was still yelling because I was madder than hell at that homeowner. He cuffed my hands behind me then he real forcefully tried to pick me up so I yelled to my son, Police brutality, take a picture, lol, That cop took his hands off me then and called for a backup.

The other cop arrived after 30 minutes or so and the entire time I am so pissed I yelled at everybody that came by. A lot of them gave a a thumbs up. Once the cop was talking to the homeowner so I reached over and picked up my sign with my hands cuffed and yelled for my son to take a picture, (nice one too). Well, both cops came over to me, I asked them if I was under arrest they said no. They picked me up (no help from me) and shoved me in the back of the patrol car. I looked at the homeowner while they were doing this and he had a smirk on his face so I called him a cheap bastard. I asked both cops again if I was under arrest, they both said no so I demanded to be released. Then the first cop sat in the front seat and began to write a ticket. I asked him what was the charge he said cursing. lol. I started laughing then, it was just so damn funny (and tragic). I asked him, tell me, which crime is worse, cursing, that homeowner knowingly and admitting to employing illegals or the illegals breaking the law by being here illegally?

Well, I certainly found out which crime is the most serious because I spent the next 22 hours in jail for cursing. When I got out of jail Tuesday afternoon I called and emailed 8 different law firms. I went to criminal court yesterday morning (for cursing mind you). The judge asked me how did I plead. I told him I wanted a jury trial. Thats what the lawyers had advised me.

Every word in this story is true. I got the pictures to prove it. And the ticket for cursing too of course. My trial should be within the next 3 to six weeks, I’m just about bankrupt because of all the illegal competition, but I swear to God if I am found guilty of cursing I will take it all the way to the supreme court. I listened to Michael Savage the other evening and he said that there were 30 illegal Hispanics outside his studio protesting something he said over the air. He said that they sounded like they were offended and then he said that there are 180 million Americans offended by the millions of illegals flooding across our southern border but of the 2 groups who is our politicians and government listening to. The 30 illegals of course.

But I tell you what, it is way past time for the American people to put there feet down, to get rid of most of the bums in Washington and locally and get this country back to the way it was before it became politically correct. The way things are going these days I fear for the future of my kids and grandkids. Is there anybody out there with me or can offer me any advice? Thanks for reading a tragic story from a very outraged patriot. Almost forgot, but I am not one of Senator Lindsey Grahams bigots(this fellow is gone come nov 08). I am married to a beautiful lady from the Philippines. It cost 15 grand in visa and lawyer fees to get her here LEGALLY. The process took 2 years. She didn’t have a border to just stroll across like our southern neighbors love to do all the time.

A Letter To Senator Feinstein

The following letter was written by a friend and fellow writer, Mr. Neal Ross, to Senator Diane Feinstein. This letter was in response to a reply she had mailed to him in regard to a previous letter that he had written in which he asked that consider enforcing the immigtation laws of this country. In truth a duly elected Senator to the United States Congress should not have to be reminded by constituents that it is his, or her, sworn responsibility to uphold the laws of the nation, but apparently we have many in Congress who are abysmally ignorant as to their duties and responsibilities. I enjoyed the great reasoned and cogent response by Mr. Ross, and do congratulate him on a job well done. I wish that I could write as well as he does.

Jim Schwiesow

"Senator Feinstein,

I received your response to a letter I had sent you asking you to consider enforcing current immigration laws in the wake of the failed S. 1639.

It is obvious now that you, and your counterparts in that failed bill, have no desire at all to listen to the voices of the American people who spoke so loudly in opposition to that bill.

In your response you state:

"Unfortunately, the comprehensive immigration reform bill has stalled in the Senate. Therefore, I believe the next step must be to pass the individual priorities contained within the larger bill, starting with the "Agricultural Job Opportunities, Benefits and Security Act of 2007" (AgJOBS). AgJOBS is an important bill to address the current labor shortage facing agriculture today. It will allow certain undocumented agricultural workers to legalize their immigration status in the United States if they can show that they have been working in agriculture and commit to continue working in agriculture for three to five years. It will also reform the current H2-A agricultural guest worker program to streamline the process for applying for a legal workforce."

Senator Feinstein, I do not wish to be rude, but what part of 'no deal' do you fail to understand? The American people do not want to have any part in any aspect of your failed immigration reform. That includes AgJOBS!

You state we have a shortage of agricultural workers. I say we do not. Not when, according to your own estimate, that we have 10-12 million illegal aliens in our country already. (The research I have done on that number goes much higher, upwards of 30 million.) How can we lack workers to pick crops with even as small a number as 10 million workers? Could it be that many of these workers are doing other jobs that used to be held by American workers until companies figured out they could increase their profits by hiring low paid illegal workers? Jobs like construction where a man could make a decent living?

You state that if we can verify that an illegal alien has been working in the agricultural industry, and would commit to continuing for three to five years, we should grant them amnesty. That is what it is, forgiveness of crimes committed for 'doing the jobs Americans won't'.

I now ask of you, what about those who cannot provide such proof? Are we going to begin deportation proceedings for them? Or will they be covered in another of the 'the individual priorities' you are going to attempt to pass?

Finally I would like to know just exactly how you plan on streamlining the H2-A visa program.

Are you going to eliminate the need for employers to make an active effort, including newspaper and radio advertising in areas of expected labor supply. Such recruitment must be at least equivalent to that conducted by non-H2A agricultural employers to secure U.S. workers.

Or might it be that you are going to do away with the part of the H2-A program that states the wage or rate of pay must be the same for U.S. workers and H2A workers, and that the rate must also be at least as high as the applicable Adverse Effect Wage Rate or the applicable prevailing wage rate, whichever is higher?

Or maybe you plan on doing away with the fact that the employer must provide free and approved housing to all workers who are not able to return to their residences the same day. The employer must also provide either three meals a day to each worker or furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities for workers to prepare their own meals?

Many Americans, myself included, believe there is nothing wrong with our immigration system. We do not believe that our border is broken. We do, however, believe that our national security has been compromised. These things we believe because we understand that our elected representatives do not represent us, the American people. They choose instead to pander to the interests of illegal invaders and those businesses that hire them to increase their profits.

The American people were fully aware of the fact that its government was attempting to pass an amnesty bill, and they spoke up in numbers so high the capital switchboard shut down.

They are not aware of the fact that you are attempting to pass the individual components of that failed immigration reform package in piecemeal form. Rest assured, that if I have any say at all, that will change, thanks to the fact that your letter states it plain as day. I will be forwarding this, as well as scanned copies of your letter to everyone I can, and handing out copies at work. Word will get around and hopefully people will understand that our Senate cares nothing about the will of the 'legal' people of this country. Hopefully their memories will last until it is time for their Senator to come up for re-election.

Thank you and have a good day.

Neal Ross"
